Artist Bio:
My art reflects my life. My urban landscapes are areas of Philadelphia where I spent most of my life. When I was young, like many youth in North Philly, the streets nearly killed me – more than once. My parents, in an effort to save me, handed me a camera and said, “Please do something positive with your life or these streets will finish you.” I started taking photos and found the beauty of my neighborhood. Later, I started painting from my photos. I use the textures of graffiti together with words to express issues of gentrification, racism, and violence.
